The Area of Sunrise Beach, TX

Sunrise Beach (the name was officially changed to Sunrise Beach Village) is a peaceful and laid-back retirement and recreation community located in Llano County on the shore of beautiful Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (Lake LBJ). Lake LBJ is one of the Colorado River's seven Highland Lakes and is one of the most popular lakes in Texas for boating, swimming, jet skiing, fishing, and water skiing.

The United States Census Bureau states that the city has an area of 2.3 square miles with 1.6 square miles land and 0.6 square miles water. Founded in 1958 as one of the first lakefront subdivisions on Lake LBJ, it is less than 60 miles from Austin and 85 miles north of San Antonio.

Population

In addition to a population nearing 800 full-time residents, several hundred people also own vacation homes because of the mild climate that attracts people from the cold northern states who winter in the area and may decide to retire there later. They also enjoy renting a boat, taking a hike in the hills or a leisurely walk around the lake, bird watching, and more.

A 45-minute trip around the grounds on a tractor-pulled passenger wagon transports you into an African safari. Purchase a $6.00 large bucket of feed for the memorable experience of hand feeding and petting well-cared-for ostriches, zebras, bison, buffalo, llamas, mini donkeys, deer, goats, pigs, antelope, kangaroos, lemurs, Scottish cows, and others who come up to the vehicle and beg for food as they roam free. The super-friendly camel wants to exchange kisses! You can also stay overnight in one of their cabins among the wildlife.
